When somebody complained to OSHO about the management in 1972----

He has clarity in his own way. When I listen to what he speaks spontaneously, there arises some understanding. (Mahasukh)

When somebody complained to OSHO about the management in 1972----

Dharmadeep: I remember in Bombay, which is now Mumbai, in 1972, we are all sitting in the apartment called Woodland with OSHO. Then someone had given complain about one man, who was at that time in charge of publishing His books in and arranging the meditation camps which were happening in and around Mumbai. Somebody had complained about him. It was in 2 full pages, saying that he was not managing money properly, not keeping account and overcharging----, all sorts of allegation against him.
Surprisingly, OSHO's farther was also there and complained about him, too. OSHO's farther attended some camps and was not happy with his arrangement. He said he thought the man in charge was not capable of arranging camps.

OSHO said, "Please, do meditation camp. Forget about who is doing what.---"

After OSHO's farther stopped, OSHO looked at him and said, "Dadaji". Dadaji means farther in Hindi. He said, "Dadaji, Do you come here to complain or you come for meditation?" Dadaji said, "I have come to Bombay for meditation." OSHO said, "Please, do meditation camp. Forget about who is doing what. I take care of it." and stopped.
Then He read all the 2 pages of complain about the management guy and said to all of us there, "Please remember when I give someone responsibility to do something, that person is totally responsible. It is that person and me. I don't want any third person to ever interfere. When I trust someone, I totally trust. It is that person's responsibility whether he does or does not. I'll take care of it."

OSHO said, "I like meritocracy."

So, what I want to tell you is: when OSHO is giving responsibility to somebody, this person is doing his job and others should not interfere, because OSHO does not believe so-called democracy. OSHO said, “I like meritocracy. All those who are running this commune are doing their responsibility. The day someone misuses his responsibility------, I tell you, the miracle of this place is: that person, one day, suddenly goes away, because this commune is full of OSHO's energy and in this energy there is one thing which is called truth. Nothing else except truth exists there. Truth means totality, clarity, honesty, compassion, love, all what OSHO wants.

Miracle happens

So, if someone working in the commune doesn't follow these things, not working with truth, then he does not fit there energetically and get out of the commune. This is the miracle. This kind of miracle happens only with a master. Once OSHO said, "Masters don't make miracle. I don't make it. Miracle happens."
Master's energy is so pure that it transforms other person. You know why I am here? Why I am not with my family in Nepal who are doing a big industry there? I am not there because I am fortunate to be with Master. His energy has transformed me. If I was there in Nepal, I would have been transformed into businessman, industrialist. I would have all the benefit of material life. But my inner life would have remained just like that. Only when we meet someone who is a live master, you, your life, your inner will transform.
From the time of Buddha, still today, live masters have been transforming other's life, their inner life. When your inner life gets transformed, your outer life will also get transformed.

Ananda missed when Buddha was alive because of his ego:"I am the elder brother of Buddha"

It happens many times that people miss. For example, Buddha's brother Ananda who lived with Buddha for 40 years. He was Buddha's own cousin. What happened was that Ananda was always questioning Buddha. He never considered Buddha as a master. He always considered him as a brother. He took advantage of being Buddha's brother. For 40 years, he lived with Buddha, with one ego, "I am his elder brother." Ananda told Buddha, "I want to stay with. I am your elder brother." Buddha could not say no. He said, "Ok, you can stay with me." Then Ananda said, "I'll ask you any question any time. You have to answer it." Buddha said, "You are right. I will answer it." Third thing: he said, "You will never stay away with me. You will not put me away from you. I will be always with you wherever you are." Buddha said, "Yes" But what remained was: all 40 years while Ananda was with Buddha, he didn't get transformed because Ananda was carrying such an ego he was Buddha's elder brother.

When Buddha left his body, Ananda felt down---

When Buddha left his body, 10 thousand disciples became enlightened. After Buddha left, these 10 thousand enlightened disciples of Buddha were sitting and discussing how they have to carry forward Buddha's work. Buddha gave them instructions. The instructions were called "Dharma Chakra" means a wheel of Dharma. Buddha said, "You have to carry forward this wheel of Dharma."
These 10 thousand enlightened disciples were discussing this. When Ananda came running there but stopped at the gate, the gate-keepers said, "I cannot allow you in." Ananda said, "I am the brother of Buddha. You don't recognize me?" They said, "Yes, we do recognize you, but the meeting going on here is of the enlightened disciples. You are not enlightened." That moment, Ananda dropped down like a dead leaf because he was carrying his ego. There he became enlightened.
So many times it happens in the life of disciple. There is something last stopping from becoming enlightened. But we are fortunate because our master has taught us all these---, all the difficulties which are going to come in life. It can be anything: ego, greed, attachment, or obsession that will stop you from becoming enlightened.

Laxmi, the first secretary of OSHO, missed, Sheela missed, many others missed

I remember some incidents happened to 2 persons. What I see is that the first secretary of this Ashram(the commune was called Ashram before), Laxmi missed enlightenment according to me. She was the secretary of OSHO and the most powerful person in the Ashram from 1974 to 1981. OSHO had given her whole responsibility to run the Ashram.
When OSHO gives one responsibility, that person has to be grateful. But he also has to be very grateful when OSHO withdraws responsibility because He knows when He wants that person to relax. When OSHO went to America in 1981, the responsibility was given to Sheela. OSHO wanted Laxmi to relax. So what Laxmi should have done, this is my feeling, is that she should have been quietly sitting there at the feet of the Master. But when the work in the Ranch(later called "Rajneesh Puram") happened in Oregon, she was not quiet. She wanted to have some power. So she started fighting with Sheela. Sheela went and told OSHO about this. OSHO called Laxmi and said, "Sit quietly or leave the Ranch." But she didn't sit quietly. She left the Ranch, went to New York and there, I have heard, making chapatti(Indian food) in some restaurant.
My feeling is that there she missed. After a few days somebody ask a question about what happened to Laxmi. OSHO said, "When a mountaineer climb a mountain, as he is approaching the peak, the risk of falling is more and more. Every steps of his towards the peak gives him 2 steps of falling. 1 step upward has the risk of 2 steps falling. " Then OSHO said, "Laxmi missed becoming enlightenment. She felt down."

It is a test of awareness when you are given responsibility by the master

You have to be very careful when you are given responsibility by the master. You have to be really aware because any moment you slip, you will be gone. Laxmi missed. Sheela missed. Many others missed. When OSHO gives any responsibility to anyone, it is a test, a test of awareness. Most of all, the person given responsibility by OSHO should feel grateful, "My god! Master is giving me such a responsibility", and you have to test your awareness, love, compassion------.(to be continued)
